One vacant position for a full-time Senior Scientist (m/f/d) at the Chair of Ferrous Metallurgy at the Department Metallurgy. Start from the beginning of April 2024 in a permanent employment contract. Salary Group B1 according to the Uni-KV, monthly minimum salary excl. Szlg.: € 4.752,30 for 40 hours per week 

(14 x per year).

This position includes the following responsibilities:

Management of the “Thermal Analysis” laboratory at the chair, supervision of the various existing methods and devices as well as project responsibility for ongoing research projects in this field

Expansion of the research landscape in this area and extension of experimental possibilities

Involvement in teaching as well as support in the supervision of bachelor, master and PhD theses 

Development of a knowledge management system at the chair across the respective research areas

Acquisition of funded and third-party projects and vivid publication activity

Requirements:

Completed studies in a technical - scientific subject as well as a completed PhD preferably in the field of metallurgy or materials science

For male applicants, completed military or community service

Desired additional qualifications:

Comprehensive knowledge in the field of steel and different alloy systems

Several years of experience with experiments and laboratory tests in the high-temperature range including sample preparation and subsequent analysis, especially in the methods of thermal analysis (STA, DTA)

Expertise in handling and using thermodynamic software (FactSage and Thermocalc)

Proven publication activity in refereed journals as well as at conferences in the field
