The National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge, I.P. (INSA), Department of Epidemiology, opens a call for the attribution of a research grant for graduate degree, reference DEP/EXA_Minas/2024/BI/01, under the project “estudo epidemiológico aos ex-trabalhadores da Empresa Nacional de Urânio e seus familiares” (EXA_Minas) funded by the National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge, IP.

Specific Requirements

Preferred requirements:

  • Degree in Mathematics or Statistics;
  • Proven experience in planning and carrying out data analysis of epidemiological studies;
  • Good knowledge of statistical methods;
  • Experience in data analyses in occupational or environmental health;
  • Experience in statistical analysis in SPSS, STATA and/or R programs;
  • Experience in writing scientific reports and articles in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Portuguese (written and spoken);
  • Ease in communicating statistical concepts and methodologies to other disciplinary areas (to non-statists);
  • High sense of responsibility;
  • Ease of relationship, communication and teamwork;
  • Immediate availability.

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance amount:

The value of the grant corresponds to 930.98 € (nove hundred and thirty euros and ninety-eight cents), as per the FCT, I.P. (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), under the terms established in the Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação, approved by the Portuguese Law no. 123/2019, of August 18, and Personal Accident Insurance or equivalent.

Eligibility criteria

Admission requirements:

Students, enrolled in a Masters or already with a Masters, in the scientific areas indicated above, aiming the consolidation of their scientific training through the development of research works leading to the attainment of the respective academic degree, whether integrated or not in R&D projects.

Selection process

Selection methods:

The evaluation will focus on the assessment of academic training and professional experience in the areas indicated above. The evaluation process will include two phases. First, the candidate's CV and motivation will be evaluated. Subsequently, candidates who gather, in this first evaluation, a classification of not less than 12 points, on a scale of 0 to 20 points, will be invited to an interview to assess their knowledge and skills. The weighting for the final valuation will be 50% for the curriculum evaluation and 50% for the interview.

  • Statistical analysis of data;
  • Writing of scientific reports and articles to disseminate the results obtained;
  • Participation and presentation of results in scientific and project meetings.
