Offer Description
Independent Junior Research Group Leader (f/m/d): Mediated Reality
UNIVERSITY OF STUTTGART | AS SOON AS POSSIBLE | TV-L E14 | FULL-TIME
The University of Stuttgart invites applications for the position of Independent Junior Research Group Leader (f/m/d) in Mediated Reality. The position is associated with the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship of Visual Computing and the Cluster of Excellence on Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture (IntCDC). It will be hosted by VISUS, the University of Stuttgart's Visualization Research Center.
Mediated Reality is an emerging new field concerned with adding, altering or subtracting information from one's visual perception of reality through computer-based displays. As a superset of virtual, mixed and augmented reality, mediated reality has various applications ranging from industry, medicine, assistive technologies to telepresence.
To complement our research activities, we are seeking a highly motivated young scientist with an excellent PhD degree, an outstanding early-career track record and substantial international research experience in Mediated Reality and related fields. We expect a successful candidate to blend into the research environment of VISUS and IntCDC and make contributions to the research programs in these communities.
To support the development of the new Junior Research Group, funds will initially be provided for up to three years, including the group leader position (TV-L E14), funds for PhD projects (TV-L E13), as well as startup and annual budgets. The research group will be embedded into VISUS and benefit from its support structures and from the IntCDC instrumentation and labs. As the working language of the involved researchers is English, German language skills are not required. The start date is as soon as possible, but can be adjusted to suit the availability of the successful candidate.
