The University of Klagenfurt is pleased to announce the following open position at the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the earliest convenience:
Assistant Professor (postdoc)
Level of employment: 100%
Minimum salary: € 60.926,60 per annum (gross), Classification according to collective agreement: B1 lit.b
Limited to: 3 years with the option to extend to 6 years

The position is assigned to the professorship "Applied Psychology for the 21st Century" (Prof. Dr. Helen Landmann). The research focus of the organizational unit includes environmental psychological issues (e.g. motivation of protest for and against the energy transition) as well as community psychological issues (e.g. success factors for intercultural communities) with a focus on emotional processes.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- independent research
- participation in the research and teaching projects run by the organisational unit
- independent delivery of courses
- supervision of students
- participation in organisational and administrative tasks and in quality assurance measures
Prerequisites for the appointment:
- doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field
- Independent scientific work on topics that are related to the research focus of the organizational unit
- Ability to implement psychological methods and statistical knowledge
- Willingness to engage in research, teaching and administration
- Teaching skills
- Language skills in English at the level required for international publications
Additional desired qualifications:
- Knowledge in the field of environmental psychology and/or emotion research
- Ability to conduct media analyses (e.g. topic modeling with Python)
- First relevant publications
- Ability to work in a team
- scientific curiosity and enthusiasm for imparting knowledge
Our offer:
The employment contract is concluded with a starting salary of € 4.351,90 gross per month (14x per year; previous experience specific to the job may be taken into account).
