Offer Description
A post-doctoral fellowship funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) is available for the discovery of microbial natural products as drug candidates for malaria at the University of São Paulo's São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC-USP) in Brazil under the supervision of Prof. Rafael Guido. This fellowship is linked to the Thematic Project “The Role of Chemistry in the Adaptation of Holobionts” headed by Prof. Roberto Berlinck.
Fractions and isolated compounds in collaboration with the São Carlos Institute of Chemistry (IQSC-USP) will have their antiplasmodial profile assessed for the discovery of Plasmodium falciparum inhibitors.
We are seeking one highly qualified postdoctoral fellow with experience in inhibition tests, preferably applied to parasites
FAPESP fellowships are competitive (R$ 9,047.40) and granted for 24 months. The fellowship also includes a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.

Essential Requirements:
• PhD degree in chemistry, pharmacy, biology. Candidates must have obtained the degree within the last 7 years;
• Outstanding record of scientific achievements (publications, patents);
• Demonstrated international experience and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams;
• Good communication skills in English both written and spoken.
Desirable Requirements:
• Hands-on experience in cellular assays and assessment of inhibitory activity.
