Offer Description
A postdoctoral or undergraduate position is available in the Laboratory of Translational Hematology and Chemogenomics (THEC) of Prof. Giovanni Roti at the Department of Medicine, University of Parma.
Description of the Research Group
Research at THEC focuses on chemogenomic, basic biology, and translational approaches in hematologic malignancies. Research projects usually have translational implications and involve the collaboration of the Department of Hematology at Parma University Hospital. Active projects at THEC focus on identifying novel targets and/or inhibitors for aggressive hematologic cancers, including T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL). In particular, high-throughput screening of "small molecules" is combined with genetic (sh/sgRNA, CRISPR/Cas9), cell biology, and genomics (RNAseq, ChIP-seq, NGS) approaches, combined with bioinformatics integration, to identify novel targets and therapeutic strategies. Each project includes in vivo validation in mouse models.
THEC boasts collaborations with national and international centers and is the main partner in several research projects in regional and national settings. The laboratory is also the leader in Italy for the chemogenomic study of patients with aggressive hematologic malignancies by integrating drug response profiling and genomic approaches to guide therapeutic choice in relapsed/refractory patients.
In collaboration with the Hospital of Parma, the research laboratory is a center of medical and scientific excellence and combines research, medicine, and university education to address challenges and benefit hematology patients.
