Bioinformatics researcher for the IIS Biobizkaia

It will be incorporated into the Bioinformatics platform, with very close collaboration with the Institute's other platforms, especially the genetics and genomics platform, to support active research projects:

• Bioinformatics analysis of data generated on the genetics-genomics platform and other platforms of the Institute.
• Collaborate with the Institute's researchers in the development of research projects in the areas of genetics and genomics, personalised medicine...
• Actively design and implement new software and databases for genomic data management, collaborate in research activities related to the genetics and genomics platform.
• Jointly evaluate different designs, software, etc. and develop solutions that enable the translation of the knowledge generated into clinical practice.
• Collaboration in the proposal and development of projects with researchers involving data analysis, big-data or data mining in different clinical areas.

- Undergraduate/graduate/graduate degree in computer science, informatics, computational biology or similar, ideally with a background in biology or genetics. Applicants with degrees in biotechnology, biology or other life sciences will be considered provided they can demonstrate experience in bioinformatics/computational genomics.

- At least 3 years proven experience as a bioinformatician, specifically in genetics-genomics.

• Annual gross remuneration: 37.213 – 46.144 gross euros

• Master in bioinformatics, master in genetics or similar (0-20)
• Knowledge and experience in genomic data analysis and knowledge of next generation sequencing (0-20)
• Linux design/administration/supervision (0-15)
• Skills in scientific computing (mainly Python and R), machine learning and data integration techniques (0-20).
• Experience in data analysis in the health environment, especially in clinical application in genetics-genomics (rare diseases, cancer...) (0-5)
• Knowledge and experience in the design, implementation and execution of research projects oriented towards clinical genetics-genomics applications or similar (0-5).
• Knowledge and experience in data mining and "big data" (0- 10)
• Disability certificate minimum 33% (0-5)
