Join our interdisciplinary team at Uppsala University Hospital and Uppsala University in advancing cancer treatment through technology. This unique PhD position, at the intersection of machine learning, image processing, and radiotherapy, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research.
Project Overview:
- Focus on optimizing adaptive radiotherapy using cutting-edge image processing and deep learning techniques.
- Collaborate with our skilled Medical Physics team and benefit from our state-of-the-art facilities, including the MR-Linac system.
Academic Environment:
- Be part of Uppsala University, a prestigious institution with a broad academic spectrum.
- Work under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Orcun Göksel of the Computer-assisted Applications in Medicine group.
- Engage and connect with fellow researchers in the Image Analysis unit at the Department of Information Technology.
Research Goals:
- Develop AI-driven Deformable Image Registration (DIR) techniques for enhanced accuracy and efficiency in treatment adaptation.
- Contribute to clinical translation of these innovations, ensuring they are interpretable and uncertainty-aware.
Offer:
- A four-year project employment, collaborating closely with both the Medical Physics department and the IT department.
- Flexible start dates, negotiable between March and September 2024.
Candidate Profile:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Medical Physics, or Engineering.
- Experience in AI and medical image processing.
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages and strong English communication skills.
- Collaborative spirit, with radiotherapy knowledge as an added advantage.
