Offer Description

The Institute for Cardiogenetics is located in Lubeck, Germany and was founded in 2013. We employ advanced molecular and cellular biology, multi-OMICS, computational biology, and bioinformatics techniques to uncover the genetics behind cardiovascular diseases. Our ultimate objective is to develop innovative therapeutic solutions for the prevention and treatment of coronary artery calcification, atherosclerosis, and myocardial infarction in both men and women. We collaborate with national and international networks such as CARDIoGRAMplusC4D, PlaqOmics, and VIAgenomics, and actively participate in sharing data and samples.

We are currently accepting applications for a PhD position within our diverse team. The position includes international mobilization opportunities to the USA, Finland, Netherlands, and Sweden.

Specific Requirements

Your qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or molecular life sciences, or medical degree. However, we welcome applicants with diverse educational backgrounds including physics, statistics, mathematics, biology, or medicine.

 

Your responsibilities:

Interested or have a good command of bioinformatics or computational biology
Interest in the application of GWAS, molecular QTL, precision medicine, Single-cell RNA and ATACseq, Single-cell CRISPR screening techniques
Good written and spoken English
Interest in the genetics and biology of cardiovascular diseases
Accuracy and reliability, initiative, organizational skills, and a high sense of responsibility
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
