Offer Description
Project description: This position will involve working at MTG-UPF in Barcelona to develop acoustic sensors based on embedded platforms capable of running machine learning algorithms for the analysis of urban acoustic environments. The work will be carried out in the context of the SoundLights project, funded by the Barcelona Institute of Technology for the Habitat (Bithabitat), from the Barcelona City Council.
Tasks to be performed:
Research position on acoustic monitoring to develop acoustic sensors based on embedded platforms capable of running machine learning algorithms for the analysis of urban acoustic environments. The work will be carried out in the context of the SoundLights project, funded by the Barcelona Institute of Technology for the Habitat (Bithabitat), from the Barcelona City Council.
The duration of these tasks is estimated over a period of 9 months.
Dedication and working hours: Part time (32,5h/week)
Planned remuneration approx: 25.979,36 € gross per year
Financing fund: PRLOC00623 - BIT Habitat 2023 Xavier Serra, projecte “Semàfors Acústics (SOUNDLIGHTS), sensòrica oberta distribuïda i ciència ciutadana per a la gestió col·lectiva dels entorns sonors de la ciutat.”, Ajuntament de Barcelona.

Requirements

- Bachelor Degree or equivalent
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in the design and development of audio signal analysis, processing, and classification algorithms.
- Experience in machine learning applied to audio.
- Experience with deep learning libraries (PyCharm/Keras/TensorFlow).
- Experience in embedded computing platforms such as Raspberry Pi.
- Proficiency in software development using Python and Git.
- Experience in Linux, including scripting.
The expected start date is March 15th 2024, the job is in Barcelona, and Nie and a work permit is required.
Additional Information
Selection criteria: The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:
The selection committee uses several indicators to evaluate the applicant’s:
1. Academic Training (0-20 points):
- Academic qualifications above the required level.
- Master degree in Sound and Music Computing, Music Technology or related field (valorable).
2. Professional Experience /Adequacy to the proposed profile (0-60 points):
- Experience in: education, research.
- Experience in embedded computing.
- Digital and data analysis skills.
3. Other merits (0-20 points): Languages (Catalan, Spanish, English). Ability to work autonomously as part of a team.
The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job.
