DIRECTOROF THE INSTITUTE OF SYSTEMATICS AND EVOLUTION OF ANIMALS PAS IN KRAKOW
is announcing a competition for the position of Post-doc (equal to reader) at the Department of Molecular Biodiversity
for the realization of the project Opus 22 (agreement number UMO-2021/43/B/NZ9/00991) titled “Population genetics of saproxylic beetle assemblages in protected and managedbforests” funded by the National Science Centre, Poland.
Candidates should meet the conditions specified in the Act on the Polish Academy of Sciences of 30 April 2010 (Ustawa o Polskiej Akademii Nauk; Polish Journal of Laws 96, Item 619).

Tasks and responsibilities for the position:
We are looking for a candidate for the reader position. The responsibilities of the hired individual will include:
- Carrying out research tasks as part of the Opus 22 project under agreement number UMO-2021/43/B/NZ9/00991,
- Participation in planned laboratory works,
- Analysis and interpretation of genetic data,
- Involvement in preparing manuscripts based on the project's implementation,
- Active participation in scientific conferences—presenting research results
- Engagement in organizational and outreach activities.

Requirements:
- PhD in Biological Sciences or a related science;
- proven track record in peer-reviewed scientific publishing;
- experience in bioinformatics handling with data obtained from next-generation sequencing;
- experience in performing statistics in the R environment;
- fluency in English.
Background in genotyping with the use of ddRADseq method and familiarity with GIS techniques will be welcome.

- Information about the prospects for the attainment of a Doctor Habilitated degree (in the case of candidates who do not hold a Doctor Habilitated degree).
- List of scientific achievements (publications – including information about a given journal’s Impact Factor – conference presentations and participation in research projects), educational achievements (supervision of Doctoral and Master’s theses, etc.) and organisational achievements (performed functions, etc.). The list should focus on the achievements completed after the most recent academic promotion.
- Declaration that ISEA PAS will be the candidate’s primary workplace (if the candidate wins the competition).
- Two opinions about the candidate’s predispositions and qualifications for academic work issued by senior academic staff members.
