Offer Description
The Graduate School at Arts, Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University, in collaboration with Independent Research Fund Denmark, invites applications for a fully funded PhD scholarship/fellowship in the re-integration of the cerebellum provided the necessary funding is available. This PhD scholarship/fellowship is available as of 1 September 2024 for a period of up to three years (5+3) and of up to four years (4+4). The candidate who is awarded the scholarship/fellowship must commence his/her PhD degree programme on 1 September 2024.
The cerebellum constitutes a large part of the brain, but little is known about it. In this project, the PhD-student will use a groundbreaking new technology, so-called OPM-sensors. Using these sensors, we will investigate how the cerebellum builds sensory expectations, and how these make informed action possible in concert with respiration. Furthermore, the PhD-student will investigate these functions in the context of deep brain stimulation.
The applicant is asked to sketch at least one experimental design, including plan for analysis, which can be done within the project. See DFF-description.
It is an advantage if the applicant has experience with programming and electrophysiological data as well as knowledge of the brain and cognition.
