Offer Description

The FB2 situated at Leibniz-Centre General Linguistics (ZAS, https://www.leibniz-zas.de/en) invites applications for a two-year post-doctoral research position (39h/week; TVöD 13 Bund level of the German governmental scale) in the project “SPEAK - Sprachdiagnostik mehrsprachiger Kinder: Validierung einer Testbatterie” starting on 01.06.2024 or shortly afterward.

Research Area 2 ‘Language Development and Multilingualism’ (FB2) focuses on language acquisition in monolingual and multilingual children. Our research covers lexical and grammatical acquisition, narrative skill development, and the development of multilingual language assessment tools, e.g., Multilingual Assessment Instrument for Narratives (MAIN, https://main.leibniz-zas.de/).

The collaborative project SPEAK (https://www.leibniz-zas.de/en/research/research-areas/language-development-multilingualism/speak) funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF)) validates an assessment battery to improve the diagnosis of bilingual children in Germany. This battery comprises subtests on four domains: Phonology, Lexicon, Syntax, and Discourse.

  • Ph.D. completed by the time of appointment
  • Research expertise in linguistics, psycholinguistics, and/or clinical linguistics
  • Strong theoretical background
  • Strong statistical skills including descriptive and inferential statistics (e.g., data analyses using R)
  • Some programming knowledge
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
