Proportion of work: Full time
Salary: according to Univ. Grenoble Alpes scales (2391 € gross / month)
Desired level of education: Master degree (with at least 5 months of full time research experience within a cognitive neuroscience or biomedical signal lab.)
Work location: Grenoble Institute of Neuroscience (GIN), Grenoble, France
Application deadline: review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled (before the first week of July 2024).
Missions:
We are seeking a PhD candidate to investigate the neural dynamics of insular or orbitofrontal cortices during value-based decision and learning processes. The work will consist of combining value-based decision-making paradigms, computational modeling and invasive electrophysiology (single cell and intracerebral EEG) and stimulation experiments in humans. The goal is to investigate how neural activities are associated with choice-related processes. The team has a strong expertise in intracerebral recordings during decision-making tasks (Gueguen et al., 2021; Cecchi et al., 2022; Collomb-Clerc et al., 2023).
Activities:
The selected candidate will design experimental paradigms, collect, analyze, interpret behavioral and neural data and draft manuscripts in close collaboration with Julien Bastin. The doctoral school also requires teaching activities and taking doctoral courses.
The application should consist of a cover letter and an extended academic CV to be sent to Julien.bastin@inserm.fr.
We are seeking candidatures of highly motivated, independent and enthusiastic individuals, with background in neuroscience and/or neuro-engineering. Master degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology. Experience in programming languages for data analysis is also expected. Expertise in behavioral testing, electrophysiology (scalp EEG, intracranial EEG or MEG) or other neuroimaging techniques and/or computational modeling would be appreciated (but not mandatory).
