South East Technological University (SETU) is the sixth largest university in Ireland in terms of student enrolments and the second largest for part-time enrolments. The university offers programmes from level 6 to level 10 (doctorate) on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications and delivers programmes and conducts research across most disciplines. SETU conducts research in a number of domains, with acknowledged and demonstrable research excellence in ICT, agriculture and land science, advanced manufacturing, business, design, and pharmaceuticals. The domains of research expertise in SETU closely align with areas of smart specialisation within the South East region. SETU sustains four Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateways with these Gateways the main vehicle for knowledge transfer from the academy into industry. In the seven year period to 2022, researchers within the University have competitively secured research grants worth approximately €102m.
The SETU Strategic plan Connecting for Impact, for the 2023-2028 period, places emphasis on the university leading regional innovation, empowering regional communities, and delivering transformative regional impact.
