About the Role
The purpose of this post is to support and deliver to an industry funded project, led by a major company involved with earth moving in open cast mines. You will be responsible for the development of a real-time Bayesian machine-learning-based prognostic method able to track and predict the state of health (SoH) of a front loader's (CAT 994) critical subsystem as a function of time, conditional on different possible future usage profiles. The SoH indicator for this critical subsystem must be inferred from multi-modal sources of information (including geo-localization, environmental and operational data, inspection and maintenance reports, and lubricant analyses) using state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms. Prognostic algorithms should provide real-time information on the probability of critical failures for the subsystem as a function of time. The data will be provided by the sponsor. You will also be responsible for managing the research tasks, organising project meetings, writing project deliverables and coordinating research activities and will need excellent interpersonal skills.
About You
You will be educated to doctoral level in a relevant subject and have experience of applied research, preferably with delivery to a customer. With excellent communication skills, verbal and written, you will be able to manage a project.
