Applications are invited for the position of Research Assistant within the Neuromuscular Systems Research Group at UCD. Candidates should have a background in Biomedical/Electronic/Computer Engineering with experience in the area of computational modelling, analysis of electrophysiological data, motor control and/or neural engineering.
The position will involve supporting and contributing to a number of components to research projects in the area of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's disease. This will include development of finite element and neural models of DBS and recording and analysing electromyographic EMG and speech data in patients.
The Neuromuscular Systems Lab is made up of research staff and students who bring a diverse and complementary range of skills and expertise to addressing research questions in the area of motor control. Our research involves the application of engineering principles, in particular mathematical modelling and signal processing, to understand how the nervous system controls muscle in healthy and diseased states. Through this research we aim to address fundamental questions in the control of human movement and to develop improved therapeutic and rehabilitation strategies.
Successful candidates will have strong analytical and computational modelling skills in addition to being able to work with patients and with industry and clinical collaborators.
Fixed salary: €30,025 per annum
