University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of assistant professor at the Department of Protein Engineering at the Faculty of Biotechnology

Applications are invited from those who fulfil the statutory requirements specified in the Higher Education Act from 20th July 2018 (Dz. U. z 2018 r., poz. 1668) and the statutes of the University of Wroclaw.

Expectations:

  1. PhD degree in biological sciences or related disciplines.
  2. Knowledge of the Polish language to the extent allowing to conduct classes in this language (confirmed with the A-level or another exam).
  3. Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  4. Outstanding scientific achievements documented by publications (at least three experimental publications in international journal with IF above 5, including at least one first author paper).
  5. Experience as investigator in at least one high-budget project (min. 1 mln PLN).
  6. Experience in preparing scientific publications and writing projects.
  7. Scientific interests related to protein engineering (in particularly with controlled oligomerization of proteins, preparation of cytotoxic conjugates), cell biology, the role of growth factors and their receptors (in particular FGF/FGFR, HER2), cell signalling, internalization, protein-protein interactions, apoptosis, cell migration, analysis of cytotoxic conjugates (stability, endocytosis, cytotoxicity).
  8. Knowledge of molecular biology methods (including cloning, mutagenesis), recombinant protein overproduction and purification, physico-chemical analysis of proteins, cell biology methods (including analyses of cell signal transduction, proliferation and apoptosis progression measurements, cell migration, fluorescence microscopy).
  9. Active participation in conferences, workshops, courses and other forms of supporting scientific development.
  10. Motivation to scientific work.
  11. Experience in teaching and supervising master or bachelor students.
  12. Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities:

  1. In the research area:
    • conducting experiments, results analysis,
    • reports preparation,
    • participation in scientific meetings and conferences,
    • tracking of scientific reports in national and international journals,
    • preparation of scientific publications,
    • preparation of grant applications,
    • managing the research projects,
    • active participation in science popularizing events
  2. In the teaching area:
    • conducting teaching courses in the field of biochemistry, protein engineering, biotechnology, enzymology;
    • co-supervising PhD students
    • supervising students.
  3. In the organizational area:
    • participation in faculty/department meetings, seminars,
    • participation in organizational areas of the department

  7. Self-presentation (information about scientific, teaching, organizational, and other achievements).
  8. List scientific publications in the last ten years.
  9. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements, or an explanation of the lack of them.
  10. Application for employment addressed to JM Rector including a description of applicant’s scientific interests.
