We are seeking our future Expert Engineer in High-Performance Computing, Numerical Simulation, and Data Science!
The MSI of Université Côte d’Azur aims to encourage interdisciplinary exchanges in research, and establish connections between academic research and local industries in various scientific area that require scientific and technical expertise in modeling, simulation and massive data processing.
The operational engineer will join university research teams and work in support of research projects selected through calls for proposals. The engineer's primary responsibilities will involve providing expertise in high-performance computing, numerical simulation, and/or data science for approximately 6 months per project.

Responsibilities
The expert engineer will join university research teams and work in support of research projects selected through calls for proposals. The engineer's primary responsibilities will involve providing expertise in high-performance computing, numerical simulation, and/or data science for approximately 6 months per project.
While reporting to MSI leadership, the engineer will be temporarily hosted by the selected research teams, and will collaborate with the MSI's engineering team. The expert engineer will complete the following tasks:
Design, develop, and optimize modeling techniques, numerical simulation, and/or high-performance computing, and/or data science, etc.
Develop tools for visualizing results.
Assist selected teams in conducting their research at the highest level.
Collaborate with other engineers within the host teams (if present), and/or with other MSI engineers.
Provide and participate in training sessions to advance knowledge in the field of data science or computing within the MSI.
Mobility across the various campuses of the university (mainly Nice and Sophia Antipolis)

Engineer specialized in modeling, numerical simulation, high-performance computing or HPC, and data science.
Essential skills in:
Information systems, databases, software development.
Command interpreters (bash/shell).
For a data science profile, proficiency in languages such as Python and R, massive data management, machine learning libraries, neural network practice, etc.
For a modeling and computing profile, proficiency in languages such as Matlab or Fortran or C(++), scientific computing libraries, parallelization, and numerical analysis.
Experience and/or in-depth knowledge in the following areas:
Version control software (Git/SVN).
Relational database management systems, query/database architecture.
File transfer systems (sftp, scp, rsync, etc.).
Libraries for visualizing data or results from numerical simulations.
Interest in research; Interpersonal skills and adaptability; Project management; Proficiency in English;
Mobility across various university campuses.
