Offer Description
The doctoral study project focuses on studying processes occurring during the breakdown discharge generated in extreme electric fields and pressures. Understanding the mechanism of electron emission by various electrode materials is crucial for its application in various discharge-related applications. The project is divided into an experimental part and a theoretical-simulation part. The experimental part involves building an apparatus for pressures exceeding 50 bar, preparing electrode samples, and measuring the volt-ampere and optical characteristics of the discharge in both DC and pulsed electric fields. The theoretical part includes optimizing a program for processing and analyzing the measured data based on the Fowler-Nordheim theory.
We are offering a PhD student position in the Plasma Physics program starting September 2024.
