Offer Description
A multidisciplinary team from the University of Malta is seeking to appoint an ERA Chair to enhance the development of digital technologies in the transformation process of geriatric care, providing access to a diverse, talented pool of experts for collaboration. The team will focus on enhancing the health and independence of aging populations, addressing challenges, and envisioning the impact on the future of healthy aging. The WHO Regional Digital Health Action Plan 2023–2030 guiding principles will inform their approach.
The goal is to create a robust and sustainable framework to advance research activity in Digital Health in elderly healthcare.
The objectives of the ERA Chair would primarily include securing funding from external sources; building a team of researchers with expertise in this domain; bringing in stakeholders together from different entities; helping formulate governmental policies; and enhancing the European excellence research.
The local research efforts have so far focused on the technological aspects of data collection and human-centered application in healthcare settings. Research in human activity, particularly in the context of pervasive spaces and wearable devices, has obtained encouraging results. Innovative prototypes were developed and evaluated as part of Pervasive electronic monitoring PEM and EU-funded projects such as NATIFLife.
