Offer Description
The Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IM CAS) is seeking a researcher for the project “Compactness in set theory, with applications to algebra and graph theory” coordinated by Dr. Christopher Lambie-Hanson and funded by the Czech Science Foundation.

Applications are invited from candidates who have completed their PhD within the last 5 years (or will have completed it before the time of hiring), and who have a strong background in set theory. Preferred qualifications include some knowledge of at least one of the following topics: (1) large cardinals and set theoretic compactness, (2) applications of set theory to homological algebra, (3) uncountable graphs.
We require verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
The successful applicant will be based at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, and will perform research in the areas of the project. He/she is also expected to take part in activities of the Department of Mathematical Logic and Theoretical Computer Science such as seminars and workshops organized by the group. No teaching is involved.

The Academy offers the kindergarden for employees' children from 1 to 5 years old.
Affordable accommodation is available in the building of the Institute for the first 3-6 months.
