Job description:Postdoc (f/m/d) / Scientific Assistant (f/m/d) Development of a target based on photonuclear nuclear reactions
With cutting-edge research in the fields of ENERGY, HEALTH and MATERIALS, around 1,500 employees from more than 70 nations at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) are committed to mastering the great challenges facing society today.
At the Institute of Radiopharmaceutical Cancer Research scientists (f/m/d) from the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, pharmacy, immunology, medicine and IT develop innovative radiopharmaceuticals and novel tools for functional characterization, improved imaging and personalized treatment of tumors.
The Department of Department Targetry, Target Chemistry and Radiopharmacy is looking for a Postdoc (f/m/d) / Scientific Assistant (f/m/d) Development of a target based on photonuclear nuclear reactions.
A process for the production of 67Cu via the photonuclear reaction is to be developed and established. The task is to simulate the radionuclide production in the target, including the calculation of the thermodynamic processes in the target. Furthermore, the cycle process consisting of production of the target, irradiation of the target, separation of the generated radionuclide 67Cu, recovery of the target material and repeated production of the target is to be developed. All sub-processes are to be accompanied by quality control analyses. The technical realisation will be carried out in close cooperation with internal and external partners.
Your tasks
# Development and commissioning of a target for the generation of 67Cu via a photonuclear nuclear reaction at an electron accelerator
# Development and commissioning of a cycle process for the separation of 67Cu from the irradiated target and recovery of the target material
# Analysing the products for radiochemical and chemical purity
# Publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals
# Active participation in scientific conferences
# Applying for third-party funding
Your profile
# Completed university studies (Master/Diploma/PhD) in the field of Physics, Chemistry or related field
# Several years of professional experience, preferably in the field of radionuclide production via photonuclear nuclear reactions and radiochemical process development
# Experience with gamma spectrometry, analysis of LSC beta spectra, ICP-MS
# Experience in the simulation of thermodynamic processes using FEM software
# Ambition and pleasure in developing new concepts and breaking new methodological ground in a multidisciplinary team
# Good communication skills in English in a scientific environment (e.g. when participating in scientific conferences, discussions and writing scientific publications)
Our offer
# A vibrant research community in an open, diverse and international work environment
# Scientific excellence and extensive professional networking opportunities
# Salary and social benefits in accordance with the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD-Bund) including 30 days of paid holiday leave, company pension scheme (VBL)
# We support a good work-life balance with the possibility of part-time employment, mobile working and flexible working hours
# Numerous company health management offerings
# Employee discounts with well-known providers via the platform Corporate Benefits
# An employer subsidy for the "Deutschland-Ticket Jobticket"
We look forward to receiving your application documents (including cover letter, CV, diplomas/transcripts, etc.), which you can submit via our online-application-system.
