BRGM focuses on enhancing geological knowledge and understanding of surface and sub-surface-related phenomena, with a view to meeting the challenges of environmental changes through innovative projects with societal implications.



The BRGM, French Geological Survey, for its GeoResources Division (DGR) is reccuiting an engineer analyst in economy of mineral resources for its unit in charge of mineral intelligence (DGR/IMI).



In a context of increased demands around mineral resources and the economic, environmental and societal issues associated with them, you will specifically participate in a project dedicated to these issues: the French Observatory of Mineral Resources for industrial sectors (OFREMI).

Job description

The BRGM, French Geological Survey, is reccuiting an engineer analyst in economy of mineral resources for its unit in charge of mineral intelligence (DGR/IMI) in the GeoResources Division (DGR).



In a context of increased demands related to mineral resources and the economic, environmental and societal issues associated, you will specifically participate in a project dedicated to these issues: the French Observatory of Mineral Resources for industrial sectors (OFREMI).



You will participate in the collect of informations aimed at ensuring the monitoring and analysis of technical, economic, political and regulatory data with a view to producing summaries and recommendations for government public decision-makers, companies and partner research institutes.



As the prefiguration phase of the OFREMI project is open from January 2023 to June 2025, your contract will be part of a permanent project contract.



Your contribution will concern in particular the collection of information to ensure economic monitoring, the construction of an integrated view of value chains, on an international scale and in connection with the needs of French industrial sectors, the production of analyzes and newsletters intended for stakeholders (public decision-makers, companies, partner research institutes, etc.).



You will also ensure the link with the digital department to translate business and customer needs into the market design of OFREMI's IS solution, Information System.



- Participate, under the responsibility of a project manager, in the achievement of various objectives of the French Observatory of Mineral Resources for industrial sectors (OFREMI) project, in accordance with the project's governance;

- Ensure technical-economic monitoring, from upstream to downstream of the processing sectors, analyze production data, prices of substances, global trade, changes in needs/uses and consumption;

- Contribute to the collection, capitalization and dissemination of data related to the theme of the OFREMI project across the entire value chain of mineral raw materials;

- Carry out comparative analyzes of markets, industrial and geopolitical strategies on a global scale in the field of mineral resources;

- Promote and disseminate your results through the scientific production of notes, reports and presentations, adapting your communication;

- Develop and maintain close collaboration with national and/or international partners involved in the projects on which you will work.

Skills and qualities required:



- Validated skills in economic and geopolitical analysis of mineral resource value chains;

- Knowledge of customer needs or ability to interface between analysts and IT developers to make data available;

- Knowledge of the regulatory framework for the exploration and exploitation of mineral resources (France, Europe);

- Writing skills and interest in promoting scientific work (reports, publications, presentations at conferences);

- Ability to adapt to the management of priorities and good communication skills with various interlocutors;

- Sense of interpersonal skills and ability to integrate into a project team;

- Autonomy in work and spirit of initiative;

- Practice of English, written and oral;

- Sense of responsibility and organization.
