This research focuses on developing high fidelity numerical solutions (CFD and FEA) to describe the hydrodynamic characteristics that will be utilised to inform novel mooring and anchor design of floating offshore wind devices. The project may also include scaled physical modelling.

The PhD candidate will work along side academics and industry partners on the joint industry academic project. The position’s working place is at University College Cork campus.

Role of Researcher:

The PhD researcher will join a highly dynamic, research team performing leading research in offshore renewable energy engineering.

The following are the primary desirable candidate criteria:

  • Minimum 2H1 (second class honours, grade 1) honours degree, or equivalent in undergraduate or Master’s degree in Engineering or similar discipline
