Project title: Development of new processes for the production and sterilization of functional plant drinks with the use of cold atmospheric plasma technology

The Faculty of Chemistry of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology is looking for a candidate for the position of research assistant professor/visiting researcher in the NCN Opus 23 research project entitled: "Development of new processes for the production and sterilization of functional plant drinks with the use of cold atmospheric plasma technology" (UMO-2022/45/B/ST8/02410).

Responsibilities:

  1. Participation in the optimization of the plasma-based system for functional drinks production of improved physicochemical, nutritional, and cytotoxic properties.
  2. Performing the multivariate statistical analyses for determining the optimal working conditions of the plasma-based system, leading to producing the drinks with improved physicochemical, nutritional, and cytotoxic properties.
  3. Participation in the development of new, plasma-based methods of sterilization of the fresh plant drinks.
  4. Participation in the determination of selected organic compounds, both, profile and content, in plant drinks using HPLC-DAD.
  5. Participation in the determination of mycotoxin, both, profile and content, in the plant drinks using HPLC-DAD.
  6. HPLC-DAD results analyses.
  7. Assessment of the quality, nutritional properties and biosafety of the functional plant drinks, produced with the aid of plasma.
  8. Data visualization using e.g. R software.
  9.  Samples management: responsibility to deliver to the University of Gdansk for subsequent analyses.
  10. Scientific article and patent applications preparation.
  11. Participation in scientific conferences.
  12. Data management according to NCN policy.
Specific Requirements
  • At least a Ph.D. in chemistry or biology or similar, obtained in 2017or later (2017-2024)
  • Experience in working with cold atmospheric plasma-based systems
  • Essential condition: Experience in the determination of organic compounds using chromatographic techniques mainly HPLC-DAD
  • Experience in using statistical methods
  • Experience in working with microorganism
  • Co-authorship of research articles, associated with cold atmospheric plasma technology
  • Knowledge of English in written and spoken
  • Knowledge of R statistical program.
  • Knowledge of ISO norms such as e.g. ISO 8968, ISO 1444:1996

*If a competition is won by a person who is employed under an employment relationship with another employer conducting the following activities: research, research and teaching, research and development, implementation (except for cases specified in Article 125(3) of the Act), and the employment is not expired by the date of employment at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology as the primary place of work, this person, in accordance with art. 125 sec. 1 of the Act, taking into account art. 125 sec. 2 of the Act, is obliged to obtain the Rector's consent for additional employment under an employment relationship with another employer after employing at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. If the competition is won by a person who conducts business activity, the requirement of art. 125 sec. 7 of the Act should be met.

 

Additional comments

Development prospects: Scientific development related to access to numerous training and motivational programs (e.g. Primus, Secundus, Tertius, Quartius), as well as the possibility of establishing international cooperation (e.g. under the UNITE program!)
