Offer Description

Duties and responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to implement the DIGIBIO project, partnering with the Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Biosustainability (DTU) and Tallinn Technical University.
  • Utilize your expertise in data analysis to contribute to the creation of a research and technology platform for data-driven bioengineering solutions.
  • Work on the generation and analysis of big data, incorporating automated genome engineering, phenotype screening, high-throughput analytics, and informatics.
  • Contribute to the acceleration of translating scientific advancements into the manufacturing of next-generation bioproducts.
  • Support the team in research data management (RDM) issues.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions and workshops for researchers, focusing on data management and FAIR principles.
  • Monitor metadata and data quality and quantities and act on possible issues/changes.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with international, national and local legislation, guidelines and rules (e.g. GDPR legislation, FAIR guidelines and minimum metadata standards).
  • Maintain glossaries and develop domain-specific vocabularies, ontologies and metadata schema.
  • Generate and maintain thorough documentation for all activities carried out, ensuring transparency and reproducibility in scientific analyses.
  • Conduct scientific data analysis and apply appropriate statistical methods to derive meaningful insights.

Required qualifications
A PhD degree within natural and/or computer science.

Required experience

  • At least one year of work experience in life science or computer science field.
  • International-level research in the specialisation, the volume of which so far is equivalent to at least one doctoral thesis. 
  • Knowledge of research data management, data quality, FAIR and related international and national policies and legislation.
  • Experience with natural science data analysis.
  • Interest in and knowledge of IT and software platforms to support RDM.
  • Motivation for building skills within Benchling, OpenBisand other LIMS.
  • Basic skills in programming languages like R, Python and/or SQL.

Required language skills
Very good command of English.

  • Excellent organisational and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good communication skills and the desire to work in an international environment.

Additional information

The DigiBio project will create a research and technology platform for data-driven disruptive bioengineering solutions to accelerate translation of science to manufacturing of next-generation bioproducts. The platform relies on the generation and analysis of big data through integration of automated genome engineering, phenotype screening, high-throughput analytics, and informatics. The Estonian Biofoundry is a member of the Global Biofoundry Alliance.
