Offer Description
The Nanobiophysics lab at UCLouvain (Belgium) is offering a post-doctoral position in virology and biophysics to investigate virus infections at the multicellular spheroid and organoid scale. Utilizing advanced microscopy techniques, including optical and scanning probe microscopies, the successful candidate will contribute to groundbreaking research in the field.
About the Nanobiophysics Lab:
The Nanobiophysics lab at UCLouvain focuses on virus-host interactions using biophysical approaches. Led by Prof. David Alsteens, the dynamic research team explores the intricate interplay between viruses and their hosts at the nanoscale, making significant contributions to Nanobiophysics.
Job Description:
As a postdoctoral researcher in our lab, you will work within a collaborative and diverse group of scientists. Your responsibilities will include applying cell culture, tissue culture, and organoid techniques to study virus-host interactions, employing atomic force microscopy, optical tweezers, and confocal microscopy. Proficiency in cell culture, from cells to organoids, as well as expertise in fluorescence and confocal microscopy, is crucial for unraveling the complexities of these interactions.
Duties: 100% post-doctoral research fellow.
Formal requirement: PhD in cell biology, infection biology, or a related field. Eligible candidates must have completed their PhD within three years of the application deadline. Exceptions may be considered under special circumstances for those who received their PhD earlier.
Additional qualifications: We seek a candidate with a strong background in mammalian cell culture theory and methodology, DNA transfection/transduction techniques, and molecular cloning. Additional strengths include experience with primary cell cultures, spheroids/organoids, biosafety level 2 viruses, and/or high-resolution light microscopy. The candidate is expected to take initiative and collaborate within and outside the group. Personal suitability will also carry significant weight.
Application Process:
Submit your application, including:
- CV
- Cover letter describing your research interests, skills, and motivation
- Publications list
- Contact information for at least two referees (phone number and email address)
How to Apply:
Submit all application documents in a single PDF file via email to David.Alsteens@uclouvain.bewith the subject line "Postdoc Application ERC - Nanobiophysics Lab." Applications will be accepted until January 15th.
