Offer Description

Deformable walls play an important role in many systems of interest, and are abundant in systems of biological importance. To understand the surface properties of gels (wetting or adhesion), long-range deformations must be taken into account. Synovial joints exhibit remarkable lubrication properties; however, the operating mechanisms responsible for this performance, linking charged macromolecules and flexible walls, are not yet well understood. In this sense, new exploratory tools are needed for a precise understanding of the response of deformable walls to external perturbations. We aim to build the theoretical/digital tools needed to streamline this.

Analytical and numerical modeling of elastohydrodynamic forces in confinement - Writing of articles and oral communications

LOMA is a physics laboratory based at the University of Bordeaux. Its activities encompass hard and soft condensed matter, including biological matter, as well as optics. It typically has 50 permanent staff and a similar number of non-permanent staff and students. The researcher recruited will belong to the "condensed matter theory" team. The project is funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant EMetBrown 2021.
