Offer Description
The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in the following main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Maternal, Child and reproductive Health, Urban Health and Child and environmental health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry. In addition to the public health, the epidemiology, and the clinical disciplines, ISGlobal has been accumulating remarkable experience in health economics applied to poverty related diseases in low- and middle-income countries. The work carried out by health economists at ISGlobal is a highly motivating combination of field and desk work resulting in significant and impactful research outputs tackling healthcare challenges in low-resource settings. The chosen candidate for this position will contribute to the further consolidation of the health economics team and to its methodological, geographical and theme expansion.

What We Are Looking for
ISGlobal is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated researcher in economics/health economics with a high-level capacity in econometrics and knowledge of economic evaluation techniques. The researcher will initially work on a project linked to a recent large clinical randomised controlled trial on SARS-CoV-2 treatment undertaken in two Sub-Saharan countries, Burkina Faso and Guinea. The researcher will work on two main tasks: (1) the estimate of the determinants of health-related quality of life of patients enrolled and followed up during the study period (panel data) and (2) The estimate of costs associated with the implementation of the treatment strategies (possibly by identifying production and cost functions). The candidate will work in strict collaboration with the members of the ISGlobal health economics group and with the projects’ partners. The position and salary will depend on the skills and experience of the researcher.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and analysing data from the project.
- Write at least two scientific reports.
- Prepare presentations of the aim of the project and it results

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
