The Executive Board of INESC-ID – Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores, Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa, approved an international selection call for one fixed-term work contract in the scope of project ERA Chair Project - BIG: “Enhancing the research and innovation potential of Tecnico through Blockchain technologies and design Innovation for social Good”, Grant Agreement nº 952226, funded by the European Union

 

  1. OBJECTIVES | TASKS

The Employee must be able to contribute proactively to the following:

 

The development of a Lisbon digital living lab infrastructure (BIGLab) is a key action of BIG to support the further development of the research capacity of LARSyS and INESC-ID under the strategic direction of the ERA Chair holder in several key application areas. The foreseen focus for the BIGLab is to serve as a shared cross-domain platform (for the smart specialization strategy application domains) that will foster interdisciplinary approaches and the exploitation of synergies among research members and collaborators.

 

The Laboratory Technician position will be instrumental to fulfill the BIGLab goals by accomplishing the following tasks:

 

  • To maintain the BIGLab, ensuring the technical infrastructure is available to all researchers involved in the project;
  • Support the research team and the Master’s and Ph.D. students in deploying blockchain and DLT-based systems and infrastructures that could lead to real-world deployments;
  • Liaison with industry affiliates to ensure interoperability and complementarity of research infrastructures.

 

  1. DURATION

12 (twelve months) Renewable subject to performance.

  1. MONTHLY AMOUNT | WORKPLACE

The Employee is entitled, prior to any deductions or withholdings, to a monthly pay of 2175,48€ (Two thousand one hundred and seventy-five euros and forty-eight cents), working in an exclusive dedication basis, and a meal allowance per work day of 6€ (Six euros).

 

The monthly pay, meal allowance, vacation and Christmas shall be paid by bank transfer.

 

The workplace shall be at INESC-ID - Taguspark Avenida Professor Cavaco Silva, Edifício IST 2744-016 Porto Salvo or at any other facilities namely in INESC ID Headquarters Rua Alves Redol, 9, 1000-029 Lisboa or in INESC-ID Energia IST - Departamento de Engenharia Electrotécnica e de Computadores, Área de Energia, Av. Rovisco Pais 1049-001 Lisboa, in accordance with the requirements and needs of the tasks.

 

  1. SUPERVISION

The activities/tasks will be supervised by the BIG ERA Chair team at INESC-ID.

The employee will be integrated in the INESC-ID team.

 

  1. ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS - Required education Level and experience

The candidate should have a BSc. or higher in Computer Science and/or relevant professional experience in IT infrastructure management and development and / or systems administration, computer security and/or software development frameworks.

Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as an advanced level of proficiency in English and Portuguese.

 

EVALUATION CRITERIA AND EVALUATION COMMITEE

The evaluation will takes into account the candidate´s professional experience, academic and training qualifications, and motivation and alignment of the candidate with the BIG ERA Chair project. All criterions will be evaluated on a scale of 0-10 with the following weights:

Criterion A: Academic, Training Qualifications, Professional Experience (90%), namely the candidate´s higher education degree(s) grades(s), attendance of training courses and experience in managing and administration of IT infrastructures, with emphasis in academic / research environments. This criterion will be evaluated via the CV and academic degrees and training certificates. Up to two recommendation letters could be annexed (optional).

Criterion B: Statement of Purpose (10%), which should describe the candidate´s skills and background and their relevance for managing and administration of IT infrastructures. This criterion will be evaluated via the statement of purpose.

The final grade will be obtained through the following formula:

Final score = (0,9 x A) + (0,1 x B)

 

Candidates with an average score below 50 are not recommended for hiring.

Each member of the jury assigns a classification to each of the candidates on a scale of 0 to 100 points, ranking the candidates according to their classification consisting on the sum of the partial classifications assigned in each evaluation criterion, and considering the weighting factor given to each parameter. In this process abstentions are not allowed.

 

Candidates shall be ordered by applying the successive voting method.

 

The jury has the faculty not to select a candidate in case the requirements mentioned above are not fulfilled.

 

Minutes of the jury meeting are drawn up, which contain a summary of what has taken place in the meeting, as well as the votes cast by each of the members and their reasons, being available to the candidates whenever requested.

 

The final deliberation of the jury is approved by the President of INESC-ID, and it is his responsibility to establish the respective contract.

For candidates with degrees granted by foreign higher education institutions it is mandatory to have a degree or diploma recognition according to the provisions of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16th of August, (https://www.dges.gov.pt/en/pagina/degree-and-diploma-recognition) and all formalities established therein must be fulfilled, by the selected candidate, until the date of signature of the contract.

 

 

This call is open from January 8 to 19 of 2024.

 

 

 

  1. COMPLAINT AND APPEAL DEADLINES AND PROCEDURES

Candidates who formalize their application incorrectly or who do not prove the requirements required in this notice are excluded from admission. In case of doubt, the jury may demand any candidate to present documents proving those statements.

 

The false statements made by the candidates will be punished according to the law.

 

The admitted and excluded candidates will be notified by email of the final ranking list.

 

Prior Hearing and Deadline for Final Decision: After being notified, candidates have 10 working days to submit a formal rebuttal. Within the term of 30 days, counted from the deadline for the presentation of the candidacies, the final decisions of the jury are given.

 

This call is exclusively intended to fill the vacancy (s) indicated and may be terminated until the homologation of the final ranking list of candidates and expiring with the respective occupation of the working position on offer.
