Position Overview
KU is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow to work in experimental wet chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology in two parts: (1) Hybrid metallic and semiconducting nanomaterials for emerging technologies in solar cells and water desalination; (2) Conductive ink formulation with functional organic materials for Nano devices and printed electronics.
As part of the project, the researcher will have access to state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities at the Advanced Material Chemistry Center (AMCC), Optoelectronic Characterization (OEC) Core Laboratory, Material Testing Laboratory, Electron Microscopy Facility, Solar and Device Characterization Laboratory, Research and Innovation Center (RICH), Healthcare Engineering Innovation Center(HEIC), and Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KU-KAIST) Joint Research Center and will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers and graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team.
Position Requirements
- Extensive experience in nanomaterial synthesis and characterization
- General practical experience of most common dry and wet chemistry material synthesis and deposition techniques, including electrodeposition, hydrothermal, thermal evaporation, sputtering, spin coating, and full Microscopic and spectroscopic characterization techniques.
- Practical user of main microscopic and spectroscopic systems for material morphology, crystal structure and properties investigation (with extensive hands-on experience) of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), high-resolution X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Optical Spectroscopies (UV-Vis, PL, Raman, FTIR). Also, other techniques such as Four-point sheet resistance and Hall effect measurements, Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Impedance Electrochemical Spectroscopy (EIS), and photovoltaic characteristics using Solar Simulator IV (Current-Voltage Characteristic) and Quantum efficiency analysis.
- Deposition of hybrid conducting composite inks and suspensions on various substrates and their characterization, device prototyping and testing.
- Work with graduate students, researchers and faculty members in reporting and dissemination of results in meetings, conferences, and prestigious journals.
- Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager
Candidate Profile

- Experience writing scientific and review papers
- A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture
- Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- The proven ability to work on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines.
- Ability to train and mentor students and support fellow researchers
- Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills

- PhD gained from a top 200 QS or THE ranked Universityxxx
- High impact first-author publications in top 10% journals in the relevant field
