Offer Description
A PhD studentship is open at Dr. Pascal Mamassian’s lab, École Normale Supérieure, Paris, France. The goal of the PhD is to try and understand how perceptual confidence is built from the integration of uncertain, ambiguous, and sometimes conflicting information from complex visual stimuli or from multiple sensory modalities. The student will be involved in designing novel experimental paradigms, running behavioural tests in human adults and children, and improving existing computational models to account for the results. This position is part of “CODE”, a Europe-wide collaborative project on perceptual decision making and metacognition that involves eight other laboratories throughout Europe. Dr. Mamassian’s lab is at the forefront of perception studies, using various methods, including behavioral psychophysics, pupillometry, and Bayesian modeling.
