The experimental measurement of energy and information in molecular

systems is a challenge in modern biophysical research. The Small

Biosystem Lab use calorimetric force spectroscopy to measure RNA and

ligand-RNA thermodynamics. We develop theoretical models for RNA

folding at low temperatures, nonequilibrium theories for entropy production

in molecular reactions, and information-energy conversion in macroscopic

Maxwell demons and molecular ensembles. Moreover, we aim to build a

nanopore tweezers to electromechanically unzip DNA molecules at the

single base-pair resolution.

We are looking for an experimented postdoc with expertise in single

molecule and optical tweezers. The postdoc will carry out the RNA

unzipping experiments at different temperatures. He/she will also help in

the experimental realization of the macroscopic Maxwell demon and the

information-to-energy conversion protocols. The postdoc would also be

involved in the study of controlled translocation through nanopores.
