Offer Description
Tasks to be performed:
The research assistant will join a multidisciplinary project team led by Luca Bonatti, director of the Reasoning and Infant Cognition lab, https://www.upf.edu/web/rico, Center for Brain and Cognition, https://www.upf.edu/web/cbc, Pompeu Fabra University.
The project, “Natural reasoning: neuropsychological data and modeling”, aims to uncover the role of elementary logical thinking in the productivity of human mind, describing its neural representation and how it dynamically changes across time and across development. In this context, the main aim of the project is an in-depth study of disjunctive elimination.
The position is part of the support: SGR-Cat 2021: Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience (CCN) financed by AGAUR – Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca, suport del Departament de Recerca i Universitats de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
Tasks:
- Design and run EEG and eyetracker experiments with infants and children and adults, using Python and Psyscope X.
- Analyze results with R.
- Assist in writing papers.
Realization of two experiments with oculomotor registration and data analysis .The estimated duration of the task is approximately 6 months.
Dedication and working hours: Part time (10h/week)
Planned remuneration approx: 7.900 € gross / year

Finançat per l’Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca, suport del Departament de Recerca i Universitats de la Generalitat de Catalunya.

- Master Degree or equivalent
- Undergraduate background in Philosophy and/or Psychology.
- Master in Cognitive Neuroscience or similar.
- Good English skills, both written and spoken.
- Programming skills (e.g., Python and Psyscope X).
- Demonstrable experience in a cognitive neuroscience laboratory (preferably with reasoning paradigms).
- Experience in data collection and analysis.
Have Spanish nationality, be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union. If you have non-EU nationality, you need a work permit to be hired on 1st December, 2023. The expected start date is December 1st, 2023.
Additional Information
Selection criteria: The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:
- ·Academic Training (0-40 points).
- Performance in the required studies and alignment of the topic of the latest degree with the tasks of the project.
- Professional experience and adequacy to the proposed profile (0-40 points):
- Previous experience in a cognitive neuroscience lab and knowledge of the cognitive literature on reasoning.
- Other merits (0-20 points):
- Programming skills.
The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job and in case of resignation, the position will be awarded to the next person in order of score obtained, as long as the established minimum score has been passed.
