Offer Description
Tasks to be performed:
- Design of a signal analysis technique to identify the epileptic focus from electroencephalographic signals. The technique should identify the brain areas that are most involved in global synchronization during an epileptic seizure.
- Application of the method to a database of patients suffering from focal drug-resistant epilepsy. The signals from the database should be cleaned of possible artifacts and preprocessed in order to be able to apply the technique in question.
- Support in the realization of a scientific article with the results obtained in a quartile 1 journal in the field of epilepsy studies.
- Evaluation of the technique through mathematical models, specifically with non-linear chaotic models, such as Rössler dynamics.
The duration of these tasks is estimated for a period of 4 months, but depending on the development of the project it could be extended to 6 in total.
Dedication and working hours: Full time (35h/week)
Planned remuneration approx: 28k € gross / year

Requirements

- Bachelor's and Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering.
- Previous experience with computational techniques applied to Biomedical Engineering data.
- Previous experience with analysis of intracranial electroencephalographic signals of patients with epilepsy.
- Previous experience and understanding of dynamic systems.
The expected start date is December 1st, 2023, the job is in Barcelona, and Nie and a work permit is required.
Additional Information
Selection criteria: The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:
- Academic Training (0-20 points). Academic qualifications.
- Professional Experience /Adequacy to the proposed profile (0-60 points). Experience in: education, research and publications.
- Other merits (0-20 points): Languages High level of written and spoken English. Digital and data analysis skills. High level of MATLAB and parallel computing with cluster.
The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job and in case of resignation, the position will be awarded to the next person in order of score obtained, as long as the established minimum score has been passed.
