Offer Description
Tasks to be performed:
The candidate will work on tasks in the SCALER project related to offline reinforcement learning and offline contextual bandits. Specifically, the candidate will develop and implement algorithms for offline RL via a primal-dual algorithmic framework and test the resulting methods in large-scale testbeds
This work will contribute to Work Packages 3 on agnostic reinforcement learning algorithms and Work Packages 4 and 5 on linear-programming relaxations for reinforcement learning.
The duration of these tasks is estimated for a period of 2 months.
Dedication and working hours: Full time (35h/week)
Planned remuneration approx: 27.841,78 € gross / year
Financing fund: PREUR03021 - EC-H2020-SCALER-950180-G.Neu, projecte “Provably Efficient Algorithms for Large-Scale Reinforcement Learning”, ERC Starting Grant SCALER (grant agreement no. 950180), Horizon 2020 (2014-2020). This position is funded by the EUROPEAN UNION, Program: Horizon 2020 (2014-2020).

- A MSc degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related area will be necessary for filling this position
- The candidate needs relevant experience on the topic, preferably with papers published at top machine learning venues like COLT, ALT, NeurIPS, or ICML.
The expected start date is November 20, 2023, the job is in Barcelona, and Nie and a work permit is required.
Additional Information
Selection criteria: The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:
- Academic Training (0-20 points).
- Professional experience and Adequacy to the proposed profile (0-60 points): The candidate needs relevant research experience as demonstrated by a publication record at the venues mentioned above.
- Other merits (0-20 points).
The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job and in case of resignation, the position will be awarded to the next person in order of score obtained.
