Offer Description
Tasks to be performed:
Offer description: The Biomedical Electronics Research Group (BERG) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra – Barcelona – is a research team who has recently been awarded the European Innovation Council (EIC) Transition grant for the project FORESEE. The project is meant to develop and validate an innovative microsensing platform for remote monitoring of heart failure patients. The platform consists of a sensor embedded in an active implantable medical device and a portable external system to wirelessly power and communicate with it. This project builds on the work developed during the last years for the development and validation of injectable microstimulators for neuroprosthetics that are powered and operated by a novel wireless power transfer method (eAXON).
We are seeking an Electronics Engineer to help in the design and development of several electronic circuits required for developing and validating the microsensing platform. You will have the support of a team of several Electronics Engineers, and you will work closely together with the rest of the FORESEE team to make this microsensor a clinical reality.
Your responsibilities include:
- To develop analytical and computational models for designing the microsensor and the portable external system.
- To design and develop electronic prototypes of the microsensing platform, including:
- circuit design and simulation,
- design of printed circuit boards (PCBs),
- assembly of electronic circuits, including very small profile SMDs and dies, and
- programming of microcontrollers, SoC, and/or FPGAs.
- To design and develop bench tests for the validation of the technology, and participate in testing activities.
- To participate in the risk management assessment of the microsensing platform.
- To write technical files of the developed electronic circuits.
- To participate in dissemination activities, including conferences and fairs.
Main research field: Electronics.
Dedication and working hours: Full time (35h/week)
Planned remuneration approx: 27-35 k€ gross per year
Financing fund: PREUR02623 - EC -HEu-101136633-EIT - FORESEE - Ivorra-Becerra, projecte FORESEE “Novel microsensing platform for remote patient monitoring”, European Innovation Council, project that ends the 30/11/2026. This position is funded by the EUROPEAN UNION, Program: Horizon Europe (2021-2027).
