Offer Description
Tasks to be performed:
Offer description: The Biomedical Electronics Research Group (BERG) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra – Barcelona – is a research team who has recently been awarded the European Innovation Council (EIC) Transition grant for the project FORESEE. The project is meant to develop and validate an innovative microsensing platform for remote monitoring of heart failure patients. The platform consists of a sensor embedded in an active implantable medical device and a portable external system to wirelessly power and communicate with it. This project builds on the work developed during the last years for the development and validation of injectable microstimulators for neuroprosthetics that are powered and operated by a novel wireless power transfer method (eAXON).
We are seeking a Junior ASIC designer that can support the design and development of an IC to be embedded in an implantable microsensor. The person will have the opportunity to learn and gain experience from a Senior mixed-signal ASIC designer, and from external advisors and consultants. The person will work closely together with the rest of the FORESEE team to make this microsensor a clinical reality.
Your tasks include:
- To support the ASIC design process, including to update, interconnect and fine-tune the IC blocks developed in previous European projects. (WP1. Technology development, Task 1.1).
- To support the design of additional IC blocks. (WP1. Technology development, Task 1.1).
- To support the design of a data converter to be embedded within the IC. (WP1. Technology development, Task 1.1).
- To write technical files of the IC design. (WP1. Technology development, Task 1.1).
- To design printed circuit boards (PCBs) and programming commercial devices (microcontrollers or FPGAs) for testing the fabricated ICs. (WP1. Technology development, Task 1.1).
- To participate in the intravascular microsensor’s validation. (WP2. Technology validation, Task 2.1).
The duration of these tasks is estimated for a period of 24 months.
Main research field: Microelectronics.
Dedication and working hours: Full time (35h/week)
Planned remuneration approx: 30-37 k€ gross per year
Financing fund: PREUR02623 - EC -HEu-101136633-EIT - FORESEE - Ivorra-Becerra, projecte FORESEE “Novel microsensing platform for remote patient monitoring”, European Innovation Council. This position is funded by the EUROPEAN UNION, Program: Horizon Europe (2021-2027)
