Postdoctoral Fellow/Researcher/Senior Researcher (R2-R4) in 21st-century challenges to democracy

The Faculty of Political Science and International Relations and Faculty of Economics along with the Institute for Democracy at Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica, invite applications for fellowships at three distinct levels: Postdoctoral Fellow (R2), Researcher (R3), and Senior Researcher (R4).

The fellowships are designed to promote research in the broad area of 21st-century challenges to democracy influenced by shifts in technology, culture, governance, and inequalities.

Key Tasks:

• Maintain a high national and international profile of publications in books and in internationally recognized journals;
• Cultivate fresh ideas for research endeavors;
• Actively contribute to the academic life at the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations and the Institute for Democracy or at the Faculty of Economics and the Institute for Democracy;
• Although the fellowship may involve some limited teaching and supervision responsibilities, exclusively research-focused fellowships can be arranged upon mutual agreement.
• Seek research funding independently and in collaboration with colleagues.

Compensation Details:

• Postdoctoral Fellow (R2, recognized researcher): EUR 3,138 gross monthly
• Researcher (R3, established researcher): EUR 3,567 gross monthly
• Senior Researcher (R4, leading researcher): EUR 3,991 gross monthly

Research Allowances:

Included in the fellowship is a budget for research-related expenditures (EUR 1,300/monthly) and team personnel costs (up to EUR 2,000/4,500 monthly for R3/R4 researchers, respectively).

The project's span ranges from 12 to 24 months and will conclude no later than June 30, 2026. Total allowable costs are contingent upon the project's duration, researcher's work hours, support type, and the distribution of funds among the research team. This initiative is supported by the state aid scheme.
