Offer Description
The Medical University – Varna, Bulgaria, is looking for a Junior researcher (R1) to study in the field of clinical cardiology by joining the research team of Dr. Manlio Vinciguerra at the Research Institute of MU-Varna (RIMUV) as a team member of the project: Circulating Histone Proteins as Biomarkers of Disease (CHiP-BiD). The position is funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria under the National Scientific Programme “Excellent Research and People for the Development of European Science” 2021 (VIHREN) of the Bulgarian National Science Fund.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Working in close collaboration with the CHiP-BiD principal investigator, the applicant will participate in research activities involving selection and staging of cardiovascular patients as well as blood sampling of these patients (including all ethical steps associated with sample acquisition).

- Primary university degree.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- High dexterity for laboratory work.
- The candidate can already be enrolled or should plan to be enrolled in a PhD program at the Medical University – Varna.
- Ability to work in an international environment.
- Holding an MD degree is required.
- A pre-existing employment contract with the Medical University – Varna or with the University hospital “St. Marina”.
- Previous publication track is desirable but not mandatory.
- Previous track of presentations at international meetings is an advantage.
- Fluent command of English.
- Basic knowledge of Cardiology is required and will be discussed at the interview stage.

Salary –BGN 2.000,00 gross per month for full time contract.
The hourly commitment is planned at 25% (10 hours/week). The salary is estimated at BGN 500,00 gross for this commitment.
The appointment is planned to commence on 02.10.2023 at the latest.
