Job Summary:

A call is open for one position as Research Assistant in Informatics Engineering at ARDITI in Madeira (Funchal, Portugal) under the candidatura 761 apresentada à medida Polos de Inovação Digital (DIH), nos termos do AAC nº. 03/C16-i03/2022 with funding from the European Union and national funds through the Instituto de Apoio às Pequenas e Médias Empresas e à Inovação (IAPMEI) and Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência

Job description:

ARDITI is looking for 1 Research Assistant for the project "Smart Islands Hub" in Signal Processing with Artificial Intelligence techniques to develop pilot tests with companies, with a background in Informatics Engineering.

The purpose of this work is to:

(1) Prepare a call for pilot tests with companies and manage the resulting tests.

(2) Develop the technical solutions based on Artificial Intelligence necessary for the pilot tests.

Admission Requirements:

Candidates should meet the following requirements, skills, and competencies:

A. A Master in Informatics Engineering or similar, completed before arrival.

B. Must be registered as a doctoral student.

C. At least two years of experience with Artificial Intelligence.

D. Teamwork spirit.

E. Self-motivation and independent working ability.

F. Previously published work is a preference factor.

G. Good oral and spoken English, as well as good communication skills. TOEFL or IELTS scores are encouraged. At least the English proficiency that fulfills the requirements of CSC applications is necessary.

Workplan:

The selected fellows will assist in developing and participating in research activities related to:

(1) Prepare a call for pilot tests with companies and manage the resulting tests.

(2) Develop the technical solutions based on Artificial Intelligence necessary for the pilot tests.

Scientific guidance and workplace:

The work will be conducted at ARDITI (Funchal, Portugal) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Morgado Dias at ARDITI facilities or the University of Madeira (UMa). Prof. Dr. Morgado Dias's research expertise includes Machine Learning, FPGAs, and Renewable Energy.

Duration:

Six months, renewable;

Monthly fellowship subsidy:

BI – Research Fellowship (for students enrolled in a Ph.D. program) – monthly subsidy: €1199,64€

Evaluation criteria:

The curricular selection process will be based on the following:

- Curriculum Vitae (30%)

- Former research experience (20%)

- Selected candidates might be invited for an interview or short exam (50%).

According to ARDITI Regulation, if wanting, after receiving the final evaluation results, the applicant has a period of 10 working days after the notification to contest under the terms provided for in the Portuguese administrative Procedure Code (Código do Procedimento Administrativo). The candidate shall respond, in writing, to: bolsas.projetos@arditi.pt. The letter should be addressed to the ARDITI's Chairman of the Board of Directors.
