Offer Description
Applications are invited for a Research Support position in the Computational Neuroscience Group (CNS), https://www.upf.edu/web/cns, led by Gustavo Deco, at the Center for Brain and Cognition, https://www.upf.edu/web/cbc, Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona). The candidate will be part of the European Commission Horizon 2020 EU H2020-MSCA-ITN-2019 European School of Network Neuroscience euSNN Grant agreement ID 860563.
Tasks to be performed: Work in a team on modeling of connectivity and network dynamics. Tasks center around enhancement of structural and effective connectivity information by functional data and whole-brain models. Work is carried out In the context of the collaborations with project partner University of Padova (Dr. Corbetta) analyzing Stroke patient’s data and with University of Hamburg (UKE) (Dr. Andreas Engel), analyzing the effect of anesthesia in ferrets. Assist in manuscript preparation.
All these tasks are defined within the achievement of Work Packages 4 of the project which is estimated for a period of 6 months.
Planned remuneration approx: 23.864,42 € gross/year
Dedication and working hours: Part time (30h/week)

- Advanced knowledge of MATLAB and Python.
- Demonstrable knowledge (publications and presentations) of connectivity and network dynamics.
- High level of English.
The job is in Barcelona, and Nie and a work permit is required.
Additional Information
Selection criteria: The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:
1. Academic experience (0-20 points).
2. Professional experience and suitability to the proposed profile (0-60 points):
- Proven experience (publications or conference presentations) with modeling and analysis of connectivity and network dynamics.
3. Other merits (0-20 points):
- High English skills, both written and spoken.
- Programming skills (Matlab and Python).
The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job and in case of resignation, the position will be awarded to the next person in order of score obtained.
