Offer Description
Project description
Third-cycle subject: Land and Water Resources Engineering.
The goal of the research area is to develop methods and tools for analysis of the urban green structures and its ecosystem services linked to micro climate on different scales, within the project Stockholm Heat, financed by Senseable Stockholm Lab. Within the project we analyse the role of vegetation for mitigating urban heat islands, which affect people's health. We are looking for a doctoral student with the research task to develop methods for spatial and quantitative analysis of this type of urban ecosystem services. This includes handling big and to some extent opportunistically gathered data. The analyses are developed in collaboration with researchers that gather big data on micro climate extremely high spatial and temporal resolution, and hyper-local data on vegetation. The methods will ultimately develop into planning support for urban planning of green structures and related ecosystem services.
Supervision: Ulla Mörtberg is proposed to supervise the doctoral student. Decisions are made on admission.
