Offer Description
A postdoctoral contract is offered in the research group "Epigenetics and Cellular Senescence Lab" at the Center for Biological Research (CSIC) in Madrid. The contract will be carried out through the CSIC and will be charged to the project of the State Research Agency (Project PID2021-125656OB financed by MCIN/AEI/ 10.13039/501100011033/FEDER,UE).
Aging is a process of cellular and tissue dysfunction, which presents several characteristics, such as the activation of cellular senescence. Senescence is a process by which cells stop proliferating and produce a particular secretome. Our laboratory has recently identified that small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) serve as a cellular communication mechanism between senescent cells and proliferating cells. In this project, we propose to study the metabolomic changes produced during aging in human cells and in mouse tissues. For them, metabolomics, gene editing (CRISPR/Cas), proteomics and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) studies will be carried out.

- PhD or equivalent
For this, we are looking for a highly motivated person, capable of working independently, but also in a team. Experience in some of the following techniques will be valued, although it is not an essential requirement: use of primary cultures, infections with lentiviruses and/or retroviruses, isolation of extracellular vesicles and/or work with experimental animals. The scientific trajectory will also be valued, being beneficial to have a publication or paper under review by the first author.

Additional Information
The Center for Biological Research (CIB) is one of the most prestigious and historical research centers of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Generations of distinguished scientists have carried out their research since the Center’s foundation in 1953, and new scientists continue to be trained there. In 2019, in homage to one of the most important researchers in the history of the CIB, where she spent a total of 13 years, and of Spanish molecular biology, the CIB was renamed the Margarita Salas Center for Biological Research.
Currently, the CIB Margarita Salas is reorganizing into three research programs, in which researchers study the structure and organization of living matter and its processes, seek to understand the bases of disease and discover experimental treatments and develop biotechnological processes to enable sustainable growth and facilitate agricultural production. We combine the generation of new knowledge with the development of applications that can help solve current and future challenges facing society.
