Offer Description
The Institute of Materials Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences offers a four-year doctoral study on the research topics:
1. Development of nano/microfibres by needle-lees for applications in energy and environmental Technologies
2.Soft magnetic composites based on surface-modified ferromagnetic powder particles
Features of the job vacancy.
- Job position: PhD student.
- Working hours: 37.5 hours a week.
- Remuneration: Scholarship €1,025.50 monthly /€1194 monthly after dissertation exam (normally after 24th month of study)
- Estimated duration of the contract: 48 months.
Research Topics:
1. Development of nano/microfibres by needle-lees for applications in energy and environmental Technologies
Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Ján Dusza, DrSc. (jdusza@saske.sk)
Annotation: Dissertation thesis will be oriented to the preparation of nano/microfiber systems produced by the needleless electrospinning method in combination with modern post-spinning technologies, which are expected to have great potential in the field of energy and environmental applications. The expected contribution of the thesis is to study and explain the relationship between the preparation conditions, the microstructure formation and the selected functional properties of the developed nanofibers. The preparation of the given materials requires knowledge of inorganic and analytical chemistry. The new fiber systems have the task of modifying electrode and separator materials in modern batteries and also developing a material suitable for photocatalytically active membranes. The aim of the thesis is also to predict the application possibilities of the studied materials on the basis of the obtained results.
2. Soft magnetic composites based on surface-modified ferromagnetic powder particles
Supervisor: Ing. Radovan Bureš, CSc. (rbures@saske.sk)
Annotation: Soft Magnetic Composites (SMC) are modern functional materials, the importance and application of which is continuously growing with increasing emphasis on efficient energy conversion. Increasing the operating frequency of magnetically soft materials is a way to increase performance and at the same time to miniaturize components such as electric motors and frequency converters. SMC are usually produced by powder metallurgy technologies. The subject of study will be the latest methods of preparation, coating, pressing and sintering of powdered ferromagnetic materials. The goal will be to investigate the influence of morphological characteristics of coated magnetic particles on electrical, magnetic and mechanical properties of compacted materials. Advanced methods of surface modification, geometric shape and particle size will be used, focusing on the identification and optimization of microstructural and physical properties of powder composite systems.
These PhD. positions are opened in collaboration with the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling of Technical University of Košice, in the field: "Mechanical Engineering" in the program "Materials Science".
The admission procedure is therefore managed by the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling of Technical University of Košice. https://fmmr.tuke.sk/wps/portal/fmmr/studium/doktorandske-studium
For further questions, please get in touch with supervisors: Prof. RNDr. Ján Dusza, DrSc. (jdusza@saske.sk), Ing. Radovan Bureš, CSc. (rbures@saske.sk)
If you are interested, we also strongly recommend contacting the supervisor before the 09/06/2023.
