The European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) is a joint initiative of the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). ESRIC aims to become an internationally recognized centre of expertise for scientific, technical, business and economic aspects related to the use of space resources for human and robotic exploration, as well as for a future in-space economy.

ESRIC is a brand-new initiative with challenging objectives and evolving in a rapidly changing international environment. Being part of this new adventure and contributing to build successful activities with ESRIC’s partners is common to all ESRIC’s positions.
ESRIC is implemented as a department of LIST, with a dedicated governance structure that includes its partners LSA, ESA and LIST. It is conducting activities along four main areas: Research and testing facilities, Business support and incubation, Knowledge management, and Community management.
The primary objective of this new unit is to research, develop and improve the understanding and performance of processes enabling the utilization of space resources with a primary focus on the Moon. Lunar regolith as well as the ice from permanently shadowed regions are abundant sources of hydrogen, oxygen and metals that need to be smartly treated taking into account advanced processing technologies.
How will you contribute?
The Business Accelerator Officer will be responsible for the development of a new business accelerator focused on businesses in the dynamic and growing space resources sector. The accelerator will be part of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Business in Space Growth Network (BSGN) industry accelerators. The role requires the set-up of the accelerator, performing a market study, developing financial, legal and operational models, identifying established industry partners and finally the launch of the accelerator.
The Business Accelerator Officer will be expected to work with ESRIC’s key stakeholders to design an accelerator programme that will meet their needs, in addition to supporting this emerging sector. Specific responsibilities include:
- Definition and implementation of the overall strategy and planning for the accelerator, including reporting to stakeholders;
- Definition of applicable governance rules for the accelerator in full alignment with ESRIC’s stakeholders;
- Working with other public, private and financial organizations to define suitable funding models;
- Working with financial and industrial partners to identify business concepts that can be support through the accelerator;
- Putting in place market studies and intelligence to identify relevant business concepts.

- Master's degree in engineering, economics or business administration;
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in business development and the space sector where you have obtained:
- Knowledge of driving strategic market studies in an international context
- Knowledge of the Luxembourg ecosystem is considered an asset
- Experience in project management and ability to develop plans for promoting innovative ideas with the capability to raise TRL
- Knowledge of space missions and private financing
- Entrepreneurial spirit, flexible and able to adapt;
- Excellent command of English is a must.
