Offer Description

The Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies is one of seven departments at The Faculty of Humanities. The department conducts research, teaching and dissemination in general linguistics, Nordic languages (Scandinavian linguistics and Norwegian as a second language), multilingualism, medieval studies (Norse and Celtic philology), Nordic literature (including dissemination of literature and Ibsen-studies), and rhetoric and verbal communication. Further information about the Department can be found on its homepage: http://www.hf.uio.no/iln/english/

Research in general linguistics at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies covers all of the discipline’s core areas (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics), and a range of methodological approaches, including fieldwork, corpus linguistics, and experimental linguistics with a designated focus on the promotion of open science. The Department seeks to recruit an Associate Professor with excellent research qualifications who will contribute to strengthening the department’s core competence. A special emphasis will be given to documented research experience in computational linguistics.
