Offer Description
The research grant will be financed by Experimental Program for the Biological Treatment of Chestnut Canker based on Hypovirulent Strains.This research grant is intended for a student with a Degree in Agronomic Engineering/Biotechnological Engineering or equivalent.The research grant will have an initial duration of 12 months, starting on 31/05/2023, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 24 months.
Activities of I&D in the Experimental Program for biocontrol of the chestnut blight based on hypovirulent strains CHV1, namely: production of the biological agent - the bioproduct for the canker treatment in the field and the respective quality control; characterization of the virulent population of Cryphonectria parasitica (microbial, physiological, and molecular) present in the field and characterization of the CHV1 strains in the field; participate in laboratory and research reports and management of laboratory material and stocks as well as logistics and distribution and other legislative requirements for the application of the bioproduct.

Additional Information
The amount of the grant corresponds to € 930,98 €, according to the table of values of the grants awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country. The fellow will also benefit from a personal accident insurance, and if not included in any social security protocol, may adhere to the Portuguese Social Security through the Seguro Social Voluntário (Voluntary Social Security), in the terms present in the Portuguese Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The monthly salary will be payed monthly by bank transfer.
Degree in Biotechnology Engineer or similar qualifications;
Be enrolled in a master's degree or non-degree course.
Selection methods includes:
a) Final degree classification and CV quality and its suitability for the project in question (50%);
b) Experience in techniques and methods in Microbiology and Molecular Biology (30%);
c) Experience in laboratory management and availability for field work in the groves (20%).
The jury will be composed by Doctor Maria Eugénia Madureira Gouveia (President of the Jury), Doctor Valentim Pereira dos Santos Coelho (Vogal), Doctor Lurdes Jorge (Vogal).
The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification to the candidates.
If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.
Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by a declaration of honor by the candidate, although substantiation of this condition is mandatory during the grant contracting stage.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. The presentation of the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
