- You will develop novel medical contrast agents based on metal oxide nanocrystals
- You will develop organic ligands capable of providing high colloidal stability to nanocrystals
- You functionalize metal oxide nanocrystals and perform in-depth characterization of their ligand shell and colloidal behavior using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering (DLS)
- You will write ethical proposals for in vivo experiments containing mice and/or rats
- You will lead several in vivo studies, evaluating the in vivo behavior of nanocrystals
- You will perform in vivo medical imaging using micro-Computed Tomography (µ-CT), Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and optical imaging
- You collect and analyze (experimental) data within the context of the research project.
- You report the results of your studies in national and international scientific journals.
- You present your results at national and international conferences.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a PhD degree in Chemistry.

- You are experienced in the synthesis and characterization of metal oxide nanocrystals
- You have developed medical contrast agents before and know the characteristics they must fulfill to be used in a preclinical in vivo study
- You are experienced in the usage of medical imaging techniques such as micro-Computed Tomography (µ-CT), Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and optical imaging, as well as the data handling and processing of these techniques
- You are highly knowledgeable on the surface chemistry of metal oxide nanocrystals in polar and nonpolar environments
- You are experienced in the design, synthesis and purification of organic ligands, specifically for the functionalization of nanocrystals
